Superb Sevada wins back-to-back CDC titles in Canada

Adam Sevada (CDC)

Adam Sevada secured back-to-back titles on a memorable weekend of CDC ProTour action in Cambridge, Ontario, as Stowe Buntz achieved perfection on Canadian soil.

Following Events 1-2 last month, The 2025 Championship Darts Circuit resumed with the Cosmo Darts Classic on June 7, as Sevada stormed to victory in superb style.

The 39-year-old defeated the top three seeds on his way to glory, overcoming David Cameron, Leonard Gates and Buntz to clinch his fourth CDC ProTour crown.

Following a hard-fought opening win against Keith Way, Sevada whitewashed Troy Cox before sweeping aside Joey Lynaugh to set up a showdown against Cameron, where he ran out a 6-3 winner.

Sevada then averaged 103.24 in a 6-2 thumping of Gates in the last four, and he reeled off three straight legs in 15, 14 and 14 darts to complete a 7-5 victory against Buntz in Saturday’s showpiece.

Sunday’s DJD Masters followed a similar pattern, with Sevada producing another three-leg burst against Buntz to extend his winning run over the weekend to 12 matches.

Having whitewashed Jack Robinson in round one, Sevada edged out Ryan Vander Weit in a decider, before registering averages of 97 to see off Lynaugh and Cameron for the second event in succession.

This was backed up with a 7-2 demolition of Kaidon Newberry in the semi-finals, and Sevada capped off the perfect weekend with a 7-3 success against top seed Buntz in the Event Four finale.

However, Buntz produced the moment of the weekend in his semi-final victory over Jim Long, landing a nine-dart finish in the third leg of his showdown with the Canadian veteran.

Long – who earned his PDC Tour Card in January – later fought back from 5-3 down to force a decider, only to squander two match darts as the enigmatic American booked his place in back-to-back finals.

Buntz will subsequently feature in the 2025 bet365 US Darts Masters and North American Championship, which will take place in New York on June 27-28.

The former Grand Slam of Darts quarter-finalist made his Madison Square Garden debut 12 months ago, and he sealed his immediate return to the Big Apple via the CDC Order of Merit.

Elsewhere, Jason Brandon completes the North American representation in New York, after winning through Saturday’s US Darts Masters Qualifier.

Brandon – who featured in the 2023 edition – defeated Stephan Rousseau, Jake Womack, Alex Spellman, Davey Mayne and Cameron to confirm his place in this year’s extravaganza.
