Adam Sevada will make his Paddy Power World Darts Championship debut later this year, after celebrating his fifth CDC ProTour title of 2025 in Chicago last weekend.
The 2025 Championship Darts Circuit continued with Events 11-13 in Oakbrook Terrace from August 23-24, as Sevada cemented top spot on the CDC rankings.
The 40-year-old shared the spoils with Stowe Buntz and Alex Spellman in last weekend’s treble-header, with Spellman storming to Event 11 success in Saturday’s opener.
Spellman - a World Championship qualifier two years ago - whitewashed Canadian veteran David Cameron 7-0 to clinch his first ranking title of the season, averaging north of 97 in the process.
This was preceded by a narrow semi-final victory over Event Eight winner Darryl Christie, while he also came through a deciding-leg tie against three-time World Champion John Part in the last 16.
However, Spellman’s bid for back-to-back titles was thwarted by former Grand Slam quarter-finalist Buntz, who ran out a 7-3 winner in the pair’s Event 12 showdown.
Buntz dispatched CDC Cross-Border Challenge winner Leonard Gates 7-1 in the semi-finals, before converting 70, 92, 101 and 118 combinations to complete a clinical 7-3 win over Spellman and claim his fourth title of 2025.
This saw Buntz close to the gap to Sevada at the top of the CDC rankings, but the California native maintained his buffer by rounding off the weekend’s action with Event 13 glory.
Sevada swept aside Christie 7-2 to extend his title tally, having produced a series of consistent displays on route to glory in Chicago.
The two-time US Darts Masters qualifier demolished Spellman 7-2 in the last four, having averaged 96 in his quarter-final demolition of Jason Brandon, a quarter-finalist on the World Series circuit back in June.
Sevada also averaged 92 in earlier wins over Nick Georgeson and Gino Florian, which sees him head into the final weekend of the CDC ProTour season in top spot.
The 2025 CDC ProTour season will conclude with Events 14-16 in Indianapolis from September 19-21, with a further two qualifying spots for the 2025/26 Paddy Power World Darts Championship still up for grabs.
