Jonny Tata maintained top spot on the DPNZ ProTour rankings following his Event Ten success in Auckland last weekend.
The year’s fifth weekend of ProTour action saw Events 9-10 take place at the Howick Club on August 23-24, with Tata and Robb claiming a title apiece.
Five-time World Championship qualifier Robb kicked off the weekend’s proceedings with Event Nine victory, sealed with a 7-3 success over New Zealand’s number one Haupai Puha.
Robb eased through the round-robin phase before storming into the quarter-finals with successive whitewash wins against Jon Chester and Bailey Day.
Following convincing wins over Tata and John Hurring, Robb overturned a 3-1 deficit to power past Puha in the Event Nine decider, reeling off six consecutive legs to clinch his first DPNZ title of the season.
Tata then came out on top in Sunday’s Event Ten, averaging 99.49 to seal his third ProTour crown of 2025 with a 7-5 victory over Puha.
Puha appeared poised to triumph after establishing a 5-4 lead, but Tata produced a blistering burst in the closing stages, following up a stunning 170 checkout with an 11-darter on his way to glory.
The 32-year-old had also averaged 99 in his quarter-final win over Hurring, before winning through a high-quality semi-final against Robb, who was eyeing back-to-back titles in Auckland.
Tata also swept aside Brian Corbett and Zacarno King earlier in the event, and his latest triumph ensures he will head into the final weekend of DPNZ ProTour action in top spot on the overall standings.
The sixth and final weekend of DPNZ ProTour action will be held on September 27-28 in Canterbury, with the DPNZ ProTour winner earning qualification for the 2025/26 Paddy Power World Darts Championship.
