ADRIAN LEWIS powered into round two of the Ladbrokes.com World Darts Championship with a 3-0 win over Dave Honey.

Lewis, who has shot up to number 20 in the PDC rankings this year, showed flashes of the form which have seen him hotly tipped to win the title in his opening game.

The 20-year-old won the opening set 3-1 and then took the second without reply to move to within a set of the match.

Honey continued to battle and checkouts of 78 and 66 ensured the next set went to a decider, but it was Lewis who managed to complete the win by taking the leg.

"I think it went quite well today," said Lewis, whose odds of winning the event have now been slashed from 20/1 to 12/1 with Ladbrokes.com.

"My scoring was a bit inconsistent but that will probably come as the rounds go on and I was delighted that my finishing was spot on.

"I was nervous because it was my first time up there in the World Championship and I'm something like third favourite to win it! But it's a relief to get through."
