totesport have announced that they will refund all outright bets placed before the start of the totesport.com Players Championship if any player produces a nine-dart finish at the tournament.
The top 32 players in the 2009 Players Championship Order of Merit will do battle at the Circus Tavern in Purfleet from January 28-31, and the sponsors make Phil Taylor the 4/11 favourite to add this competition to his World Championship victory at Alexandra Palace just under a fortnight ago.
Gary Anderson and James Wade are joint-second favourites behind Taylor at 12/1, while Adrian Lewis is next in the market at 16/1. It's 33/1 bar those four.
And totesport.com have announced that all outright bets placed before the tournament begins on Thursday January 28 will be refunded should any player hit a nine-darter at Purfleet.
"The fact that 12 players managed nine-darters in tournament play last year, with with two of them managing it twice, suggests that we could well see another at the Circus Tavern at the end of January," said totesport spokesman George Primarolo.
"Nine-dart finishes usually raise the roof but we'll probably be the only ones not cheering if anyone manages it in Purfleet!"
