Huge Demand For Worlds

THE PDC have experienced unprecedented demand for Ladbrokes.com World Darts Championship since tickets went on sale recently.

The 2011 World Championship will be held at London's Alexandra Palace from December 16 2010-January 3 2011, featuring 72 players competing for a £1 million prize fund.

Tickets went on general sale last Monday following a week of priority sales for PDCtv Annual Subscribers, and 25,000 tickets have already been snapped up for the tournament.

Along with the table and tiered seating tickets, hospitality packages for the World Championship are proving highly popular, as fans clamour for tickets to see the world's biggest tournament.

Hospitality packages for the final on Monday January 3 have now sold out, along with for the sessions on December 16, 22, 29 (evening) and 30 (afternoon).

Tickets for floor tables have almost sold out for half the sessions of the tournament, and are proving particularly popular for the latter stages.

"We're delighted with the response so far from eager darts fans who want to see the Ladbrokes.com World Darts Championship," said PDC Chairman Barry Hearn.

"Following from the success of the Premier League Darts, UK Open and World Matchplay this year, to see such popularity for tickets to the sport's flagship event is a huge boost."

The PDC have also taken measures to prevent the re-selling of tickets at a higher price than face value, with a number of customers who were advertising tickets on eBay and other websites having their orders cancelled.
