Further Grand Slam Tickets Boost

THE PDC are set to welcome record crowds to the Wolverhampton Civic Hall from November 12-20 for the Grand Slam of Darts.

With two months to go until the fifth staging of the Grand Slam of Darts, ticket sales for the nine-day event have already surpassed the total sold for the 2010 tournament.

The Grand Slam of Darts features champions and finalists from major PDC tournaments over the past two years, as well as the semi-finalists from the Lakeside Championship.

Reigning champion Scott Waites - who came from 8-0 down to win 16-12 in last year's thrilling final against James Wade - has warmed up for this year's Grand Slam of Darts with victory in the recent World Masters, where he defeated Dean Winstanley in the final.

Yorkshire's Winstanley will also be making his Grand Slam debut after reaching the Lakeside Championship final, with Dutch semi-finalist Jan Dekker also winning a Wolverhampton spot.

They will join the likes of three-time Grand Slam champion Phil Taylor, Ladbrokes.com World Champion Adrian Lewis and 888.com Premier League Darts winner Gary Anderson in the event, which begins on Saturday November 12 live on Sky Sports.

The evening sessions on Saturday November 12, Friday November 18 and Saturday November 19 have now sold out.

Balcony tickets only remain for Sunday November 13, the afternoon session on Saturday November 19 and both sessions for the semi-finals and final on Sunday November 20.

"We're delighted that darts fans have shown such great interest in the 2011 Grand Slam of Darts," said PDC Chairman Barry Hearn.

"Last year's event offered incredible excitement, not least in the final as Scott Waites battled back against James Wade, and to see so many fans having secured their seats already shows that they expect more of the same in November.

"The tournament is growing every year and we're looking forward to a brilliant Grand Slam of Darts in November."

In a minor amendment to the schedule for the event, the semi-finals of the tournament on Sunday November 20 will now commence at 2.30pm instead of the previously advertised time of 2pm.

Professional players can still win a place in the tournament by reaching the final of either the World Grand Prix or Championship League Darts during October, while the finalists from the PDC Unicorn World Youth Championship on Friday November 4 will also qualify.

There will also be two places on offer for players from the Wildcard Qualifier, which will also be held on November 4 and will be open to ANY darts player. Entry will be available shortly via the official PDC website.

Tickets for the Grand Slam of Darts can be purchased now from the Wolves Civic Box Office by calling 0870 320 7000.
