KEVIN PAINTER and Andy Hamilton are both looking to improve ahead of their McCoy's Premier League Darts clash in Brighton.
The Premier League's two newcomers meet at the Brighton Centre as they look to bounce back from defeats in Exeter a week ago, with James Wade denying Painter 8-6 and Hamilton losing to Raymond van Barneveld by the same scoreline.
Cash Converters Players Championship winner Painter has taken victory in two of his opening four matches in the Premier League, but is looking to bounce back strongly against Hamilton.
"There's no excuses for last week, I was poor," said Painter. "That was probably the worst out of all my four performances.
"I've got to up my scoring, which has been pretty poor, and it's my finishing which had got me through in the first three weeks.
"I've had four games so far and not really scored. I feel okay going out there but it's not quite there on stage yet."
Hamilton had led van Barneveld 6-4 before losing the final four legs - crucially missing four darts to snatch a draw in the deciding leg despite hitting six doubles from as many attempts earlier in the game.
Despite his strong finishing, the World Championship finalist had failed to hit a 180 for the first time this season and is hoping that his whole game comes together against Painter.
"It's a marathon, not a sprint," said Hamilton. "I've shown I've got the form to play good darts and it will come good in the end.
"I've shown I can fight, I'm playing well, I'm looking forward to every week and this is what I want to play darts for - I'm loving it on that stage."
