Hankey Reaffirms PDC Decision

TED HANKEY has restated his commitment to the Professional Darts Corporation circuit following a recent BDO announcement.

A BDO statement released on August 9 said that the 44-year-old had been fined £1,000 plus costs and banned from BDO/WDF events for 18 months, backdated to January 2012, for a breach of the BDO Disciplinary Code relating to the participation agreement for the 2012 Lakeside Champion.

Hankey, who joined the PDC circuit in January and has since qualified to compete in the Speedy Services UK Open, has now issued a statement in reply to the decision.

"I am now sure that my decision to join the PDC was the right one after this 'verdict'," said Hankey.

"I don't want to get involved in an argument over how the BDO operate but I just want to say I am very happy playing for the PDC and am looking forward to the new challenges ahead.

"I've very much enjoyed the past six months and am working hard to be successful within the PDC system."
