PartyPoker.com World Grand Prix Field Finalised

THE field for the PartyPoker.com World Grand Prix has been confirmed - with next week's European Championship unable to affect the make-up of the 32-player field.

The sport's famous double-start event will be held at the Citywest Hotel in Dublin from October 8-14, with players having to both begin and end a leg with a double as they battle for the £100,000 first prize.

Next week's PartyPoker.net European Championship will be the final tournament before the cut-off for World Grand Prix places, but the field of 32 players cannot now change whatever the results in Germany, although
the order of rankings can be affected.

The top 16 players from the PDC Order of Merit will qualify, along with the top 14 non-qualified players from the ProTour Order of Merit and the leading two non-qualified players from Ireland & Northern Ireland from the ProTour Order of Merit.

With last year's World Grand Prix runner-up Brendan Dolan - who also hit the historic first double-start nine-darter 12 months ago - being amongst the ProTour Order of Merit qualifers, his fellow Northern Irishman Michael Mansell and Limerick's William O'Connor will qualify to compete in front of the Irish fans in Dublin.

In-form Ian White, Belgium's Kim Huybrechts and English pair Michael Smith and Dean Winstanley are all set to make their World Grand Prix debuts after being amongst the ProTour Order of Merit qualifiers.

Reigning champion Taylor will be bidding to extend his incredible run of success in the World Grand Prix after claiming his tenth double-start title last year, with 2007 and 2010 winner James Wade and 2004 champion Colin Lloyd also in the 32-player field.

The top eight from the PDC Order of Merit will be seeded for the first round draw, which is expected to be made at the end of the European Championship next Sunday - meaning that the likes of Mark Webster and Raymond van Barneveld can still move into those places with a successful event in Germany.
