AUSSIE CAUSES MASSIVE UPSET AT SYDNEY DARTS MASTERS - tab.com.au PREVIEW
ON an exciting opening night of the Sydney Darts Masters at Luna Park, Aussie qualifier Clinton Bridge caused the big upset in round one.
Bridge was $11 to beat Dutchman Raymond van Barneveld and is the same price to repeat the feat against world number two Michael van Gerwen in the quarter-finals on Friday night.
Simon "The Wizard" Whitlock is favourite to win his match with Andy Hamilton and to move through to the semi-finals after an impressive round one win against Jamie Mathers.
"It is no surprise Whitlock is a real crowd favourite and also the best supported player with tab.com.au to win the Sydney Darts Masters," said TAB's Matt Jenkins.
Whitlock was backed from $11 to $9 before a dart was thrown, he firmed into $6 after his impressive first round performance.
Paul "The Asset" Nicholson ($6.50) is the outsider against 16-time World Champion, Phil "The Power" Taylor ($1.10).
