Ian Makes All-White CLD Debut!

SUPER IAN ENJOYS ALL-WHITE CHAMPIONSHIP LEAGUE DARTS DEBUT!

IAN WHITE made a dream debut in Championship League Darts as he picked up victory in Group Six of the internet-streamed tournament on Thursday, overcoming Peter Wright 6-4 in the final.

The Stoke ace's rise into the world's top 32 was recognised with his first participation in Championship League Darts, which features eight eight-player groups doing battle before the daily champions face off in next Thursday's big-money Winners Group.

White was one of four players to win four of their seven league matches in one of the tightest groups so far in the event, with Paul Nicholson's five victories seeing him top the table.

Kim Huybrechts and Peter Wright finished second and third respectively, while White narrowly qualified for the Play-Offs on Leg Difference ahead of Gary Anderson - who missed out by one leg after losing his final league game 6-4 to Colin Lloyd.

White then defeated Nicholson 6-4 in their semi-final clash, averaging 100.55 before winning the decider by the same margin in a tight clash with Wright.

The pair hit 180s in the final's opening leg as White held throw with a 97 finish, before Wright levelled with scores of 180 and 171 in a 12-darter.

A 14-dart leg gave White the third before double 16 saw Wright level, with the same bed coming to his rescue in leg six - to complete a 13-darter - after his opponent had claimed his third leg on double 18.

Wright, seeking a break of throw to move ahead, hit another maximum in leg seven, only to miss two darts at double 16 as White posted the same bed to hold - only for the roles to be reversed as the Stoke ace wasted three chances to break as double 16 saw his opponent take the eighth leg.

Wright then missed the bull to win the ninth as the tension mounted, with double eight putting White 5-4 up before he hit a 177 in leg ten, sealing victory by finishing 89 in the middle of the bullseye.

"It can't get any better than that!" said White. "Gary missed a bull in his last game and lost 6-4 to Colin Lloyd and that put me through by one leg, so I was quite happy with that - I got my chance and I took it.

"Against Paul Nicholson in the semi-finals I had to keep power scoring, I hit a few 180s and Paul was trying to hit me back and couldn't do it, and in the final I had a couple of good finishes.

"It was a pretty hard day and the standard's quite high, often you're throwing nine darts and not getting another throw in the leg because of the players you're up against.

"I couldn't have imagined coming here for my first day and winning - I'd have been happy just to survive and come back to play in Group Seven, but I can forget that now and get ready for the Winners Group."

White won his first Players Championship event in Barnsley last month, and will now challenge for the biggest title of his career next week, with a £10,000 first prize plus double-money available in the Championship League Darts Winners Group.

"It's a very special time for me at the moment," he added. "Last year, I had a lot of finals and lost them, but I learned from that. I've only had one ProTour final, but I had a win, and now I'm in the Winners Group of Championship League Darts."

Wright's defeat meant that he suffered the disappointment of losing in the final for a second successive day, after being edged out by Michael van Gerwen 24 hours earlier.

The Mendham-based star, who has risen into the world's top 16 following two ProTour wins this year, made the Play-Offs in all three of this week's groups, but will now return on Tuesday to compete in Group Seven.

He had sealed his place in the final with a 6-3 victory over Kim Huybrechts in the last four, while the Belgian had landed a brilliant nine-dart finish during his run to the Play-Offs.

Huybrechts' perfect leg was the fourth hit so far in this year's Championship League Darts, with Phil Taylor hitting a nine-darter in Group One before two were landed in Tuesday's Group Four, by van Gerwen and Mervyn King.

King, though, was eliminated alongside Colin Lloyd in Group Six after the pair won only two of their seven league matches, while Jamie Caven and Gary Anderson survived to progress to Group Seven.

The five survivors from Thursday's play at Crondon Park GC in Essex are joined in next Tuesday's Group Seven by a trio of former World Champions, as John Part, Richie Burnett and Steve Beaton enter the fray.

Championship League Darts will be streamed live online worldwide to LIVEPDC.TV Subscribers, and streamed online through a series of bookmakers' websites around the world who are listed at www.pdc.tv.

Prize money is paid at £50 per leg won in the league phase as the eight players meet each other once, before prize money rises to £100 per leg in the Play-Offs.

Match Information
First Set of Matches
Kim Huybrechts made a fine start to Group Six, defeating Mervyn King 6-2. Huybrechts opened the game with a 180 and broke throw with a 14-darter, before landing double ten to move 2-0 up before King posted double four to get off the mark. Huybrechts then won the next two legs in 13 and 11 darts, before hitting another 180 and double 16 to move 5-1 up. King hit back on double six, but was denied his chance to continue the fightback as the Belgian finished 128 to complete the win.
Ian White hit back from 5-2 down to defeat Jamie Caven 6-5 in taking victory in their Group Six opener. Caven's arrival at Crondon Park had been delayed by traffic, but after sharing the opening four legs he showed no ill-effects by taking out double nine in the fifth, 100 to break and double four to move to the brink of victory. White hit back to 5-3 and then punished a miss from Caven at tops to claim victory by winning the ninth, before levelling on double five to force a decider, which he won with a 116 finish.
Paul Nicholson opened Group Six with a fine 6-3 victory over Colin Lloyd. The pair shared the opening four legs, before Nicholson hit tops to take the fifth, the same bed to break with a 13-darter and double ten - after hitting two 180s - to lead 5-2. Lloyd hit back on double five, but Nicholson sealed victory with double eight.
Group Five runner-up Peter Wright opened his Group Six campaign with a 6-4 win over Gary Anderson. Wright took the opening leg on double 16, and then punished 11 missed doubles from Anderson to take the second, before the former Premier League Darts champion took out double four, 140 and double seven to move 3-2 up. A pair of double 16 finishes gave Wright two of the next three, with Anderson taking out four seven for an 88 finish, as the Suffolk thrower levelled at four-all, before he hit a 180 and took out 105 and then finished double two to take the win.

Second Set of Matches
Mervyn King hit back from 5-3 down to inflict a second successive 6-5 loss on Jamie Caven. Caven took three of the first four legs to lead 3-1, before King took out 72 to hit back to 3-2. The next two were also shared before double five put Caven a leg away from the win at 5-3. King, though, hit 180s in the next two legs as he levelled, before finishing 102 on double 16 to claim the points in the decider.
Kim Huybrechts continued his brilliant start to Group Six, defeating debutant Ian White 6-1. The Belgian took the opening leg with a 104 finish before breaking with a 70 checkout, and he then hit a 180 and double four to lead 3-0. He hit the same bed to take another break, before finishing a 14-darter on double ten to lead by five legs. White finished 60 to get off the mark, but any hopes of a comeback were short-lived as Huybrechts finished another 14-darter with a 70 checkout.
Paul Nicholson won his second successive game, defeating Gary Anderson 6-2. The pair shared the first two legs, with Anderson hitting a 180 in the third only to miss tops as Nicholson finished 68 on double 16 to capitalise, before checking out 121 and 126 to take control, with double eight putting him 5-1 up. Anderson took the seventh, but was unable to check out 110 in the next as Nicholson seaked victory on double ten.
Peter Wright's fine start to Group Six continued as he overcame Colin Lloyd 6-2. Wright, aided by a pair of double ten finishes, tops and double five, won the game's first four legs to take command. Lloyd finished double eight and double 16 to pull back the next two, but Wright finished a 13-darter on tops and capitalised on three misses at double 18 to seal victory on tops.

Third Set of Matches
Jamie Caven picked up his first win of the day, sweeping past Peter Wright 6-2. Wright finished 46 to take the opening leg, before Caven finished double six, double 18 and double ten to take command at 3-1. He also took out 76 to lead 4-1 before Wright replied with a 13-darter, but the Derby ace restored his cushion with a 14-darter before finishing 65 for the win.
Colin Lloyd edged to his first Group Six win, holding off Mervyn King to claim a 6-5 triumph. King hit double 16 to win the first two legs, before Lloyd levelled with double 12 and double two. King took out 71 on the bull to win the fifth, before Lloyd levelled with a 90 checkout and then moving ahead on double two. King hit a 180 and double 18 to level, with Lloyd then going 5-4 up with a superb 11-darter, hitting scores of 180, 140 and 149 before finishing double 16. King hit a 180 and double ten to force a decider, with Lloyd landing a maximum only to miss tops to give his opponent a shot at 141 - but King missed the double 12 for victory and the Essex ace returned to land double ten.
Gary Anderson averaged 104.81 in a fine performance as he won his first game of Group Six, defeating Ian White 6-4. Anderson took out 76 and 116 to win the first two legs, with White edging the third despite hitting two 180s in the leg. Anderson took out 121 on the bull, with White hitting the same finish amongst the next two as he levelled, only for the Scot to finish double two and then finish a brilliant 11-darter to move 5-3 up. White took out 80 to keep his hopes alive, but Anderson sealed his victory with a 14-dart leg.
Kim Huybrechts hit a nine-dart finish against Paul Nicholson, before going on to edge a narrow 6-5 victory. Huybrechts took out 84 on the bull to win the opening leg, punished a miss from Nicholson in the second and then landed a perfect leg in the third, following two 180s with a 141 finish on double 12. He also opened the fourth leg with a 177 before hitting double eight to lead 4-0, only for Nicholson to take out 97 to kick-start his challenge, as he took four legs in a row to level. Huybrechts regained his range to finish double 16 to lead 5-4, before Nicholson forced a deciding leg with a superb 170 checkout, only to miss the bull for victory as Huybrechts, who hit a 180 earlier in the leg, took out double ten to edge the win.

Fourth Set of Matches
Peter Wright picked up a third victory of the day, defeating Mervyn King 6-4. Wright hit two 180s in the opening leg, before King won the next two to move 2-1 up. Wright added a maximum as he levelled before moving 3-2 up, and shared the next two before adding another maximum and double 16 to lead 5-3. King hit double six to stay in the contest, but missed his chance to force a decider as Wright finished double ten for the win.
Jamie Caven won his second Group Six game, defeating Colin Lloyd 6-3 with a ton-plus average. Lloyd took out double 19 and 80 to win two of the first three legs, but Caven levelled with the aid of a 180 and then finished 130 on the bull to move ahead in the fifth leg. He then took out 53 and tops for a 5-2 lead, and though Lloyd hit back to win leg eight, the Derby ace took out 70 on double 16 to claim the points.
Gary Anderson ended Kim Huybrechts' unbeaten run with a 6-5 victory over the Belgian. The pair traded 180s in the opening leg as Anderson moved ahead, before Huybrechts won the next two to lead 2-1. Anderson then took three in a row, hitting two 180s in one leg, as he took a 4-2 lead. Huybrechts took the next two to level, but missed three darts to move ahead as Anderson posted double ten to lead 5-4. Huybrechts took the tenth to force a decider, but missed two darts at double 16 for the match to allow Anderson in on double eight for victory.
Paul Nicholson claimed his third win of the day, defeating Ian White 6-4. White hit a 180 in the opening leg, before Nicholson levelled and took out 41 to break and lead 2-1. The next four were shared as Nicholson moved 4-3 up, before he held throw for a 5-3 cushion. Double ten saw White hit back, before Nicholson finished 25 to take the points.

Fifth Set of Matches
Ian White picked up a narrow 6-5 win over Peter Wright to boost his survival hopes in Group Six. Wright took three of the first four legs to put himself in command, only for White to take out 80 and 100 to level. The next two were shared before White moved 5-4 up, and though Wright forced a decider, the Stoke ace finished double 12 for victory.
Mervyn King boosted his hopes of a top-four finish with a 6-3 win over Paul Nicholson.  The game's first four legs went with the throw before King took out double eight in the fifth and then broke throw on double two, before a third successive leg game him a 5-2 cushion. Nicholson hit a 180 as he hit back, but missed the bull for a 130 finish in leg nine to allow King to seal his win on double 16.
Kim Huybrechts regained his place as the league leader with a fourth victory of Group Six, defeating Colin Lloyd 6-3. Huybrechts finished 78, tops and 72 to win the first three legs, before Lloyd took out 95 to hit back. Double eight gave Huybrechts two of the next three legs as he took a 5-2 lead, with Lloyd following an earlier 108 finish by taking the eighth leg on double ten, but he missed the bull in the next as Huybrechts posted a 180 and double 16 to seal his win.
Gary Anderson averaged 108.57 in a brilliant 6-4 win over Jamie Caven, who averaged 100 himself in an exciting quick-fire contest. Anderson took out 104 and 81 to take the first two legs, before Caven traded 180s with the Scot in leg three, taking out double five and then finishing 85 on the bull to level. Anderson hit a 13-darter to move 3-2 up and broke for a 4-2 lead, only for Caven to finish double 18 and tops to hit back once more. Anderson, though, hit a 171 and tops to regain his lead and then landed a 177 and tops to secure a superb win.

Sixth Set of Matches
Paul Nicholson put one foot into the Play-Offs with a 6-4 win over Jamie Caven. Nicholson finished double eight to win the opening leg and took out 52 for the second leg, before Caven hit back to win the next three, including checkouts of double one and double two, as he moved 3-2 up. Nicholson moved back ahead with 81 and 108, and though Caven levelled, the Australian World Cup star finished double eight to regain the lead and finished double 18 for the win.
Peter Wright joined Kim Huybrechts on four victories in Group Six with a narrow 6-5 defeat of the Belgian. Wright hit a 180 in the opener and then took out 121 on double 14 to lead 2-0, before Huybrechts got off the mark in leg three with an 85 finish. The pair traded the next two before Wright finished 150 to lead 4-2, only for the Belgian to reply with double eight and double four to level. The next two were also shared as the game went into a decider, in which Wright was first to a finish before landing double five to claim the win.
Ian White eliminated Colin Lloyd from the tournament with a 6-2 victory in their penultimate league clash. Lloyd took out 121 for a 12-darter in the opening leg, before White hit 180s in the next two to move ahead. Lloyd finished another 121 on the bull for a 12-dart leg as he levelled at two-all, but White finished 109, 60 and 68 to take the next three legs, and capitalised on four missed doubles from Lloyd to take the win on double six.
Gary Anderson joined three other players on eight points with a 6-4 win over Mervyn King, who moves second-bottom following the loss. King finished double 16 and tops to win the first two legs, before Anderson finished tops, double four, 83 and 81 to move 4-2 up. King replied with a 141 finish and edged the eighth to level, but missed two darts to move ahead as double ten gave the Scot a 5-4 lead, and he then sealed victory by finishing 81 for a 12-darter.

Final Set of Matches
Ian White eliminated Mervyn King from Championship League Darts with a 6-3 victory over the former finalist in their final league game. King leg before White, aided by a 180, levelled and then won the third, before a 120 finish put King level at two-all. White took the next two, and though King replied on double eight, he missed his chance to level with eight darts at doubles in leg eight as the debutant finished tops for a 5-3 cushion and double 12 for the win.
Jamie Caven secured Championship League Darts survival with a narrow 6-5 win over Kim Huybrechts, who remains in the Play-Off places. Huybrechts finished 71 to win the opening leg, only for Caven to win the next three - but the Belgian then replied with three legs of his own to move 4-3 up. The pair traded 180s as Caven levelled, with Huybrechts then winning leg nine, but the Derby ace then hit double 14 to force a decider and took out 109 on double 16 for the win.
Colin Lloyd ended Group Six with a second victory of the day, with his 6-4 defeat of Gary Anderson also knocking the Scot out of the top four and putting Ian White into the Semi-Finals.
Paul Nicholson finished top of the final Group Six table with a 6-4 win over Peter Wright. Nicholson took out 124 to take the opening leg, and though Wright levelled, he took out double 16 and tops to lead 3-1. Wright landed double five and double eight to win two of the next three as he pulled back to 4-3 before Nicholson landed double two to move to the brink of victory. Wright took the ninth, but Nicholson finished 40 to seal a fifth victory of the day.

Semi-Finals
Paul Nicholson 4-6 Ian White
Kim Huybrechts 3-6 Peter Wright
Ian White continued a brilliant Championship League Darts debut as he defeated table-topper Paul Nicholson 6-4 to reach the Group Six final. White took the opening leg on double 16, and after missing the same bed to win the second, he took the next two to lead 3-1. Nicholson hit a 180 and tops to reply, and levelled on double 12 only for the Stoke ace to hit a 180 and double 16 as he moved 4-3 up. The pair traded 180s in leg eight as double ten saw Nicholson level, but White hit a 177 and finished 64 to move 5-4 up, and the capitalsed on three missed doubles from Nicholson to force a decider by landing double eight to reach the final, ending the game with a 100.55 average.
Peter Wright won through to his second successive final, defeating Kim Huybrechts 6-3 in their last four contest. Huybrechts took the opener on double ten, but Wright finished 62, 116, double four and tops to take a 4-1 lead. Huybrechts landed the bull for a 127 finish in the sixth, and hit a 180 and double ten to pull back to 4-3. However, the Belgian missed double 11 for a 124 finish in the eighth, as Wright finished 75 on the bull before trading 180s with his opponent in leg nine, as double 12 put him into the decider.

Final
Ian White 6-4 Peter Wright
