Matchplay Magic Moments - Top Ten

THE past 20 years of the BetVictor World Matchplay have seen many magical moments at the Winter Gardens - and in a special poll here on the PDC's official website we've asked fans to vote for their favourite.

Ever since America's Larry Butler won the inaugural World Matchplay in 1994, the Winter Gardens in Blackpool has held a special place in the hearts of darts players and fans.

The tournament has witnessed five nine-darters since - from Phil Taylor, Raymond van Barneveld, John Part, Michael van Gerwen and Wes Newton - some stunning checkouts, epic victories and record-breaking triumphs.

We picked 16 Magic Moments and asked fans to vote for their favourite. After thousands of votes were cast, here's the Top Ten...

2007 - Terry Jenkins takes a 17-11 win over Phil Taylor in the semi-finals - Taylor's last defeat on the Winter Gardens stage.

2012 - Michael van Gerwen hits a nine-dart finish against Steve Beaton in the second round.

2010 - Raymond van Barneveld hits a brilliant nine-darter in his first round win over Denis Ovens.

2007 - James Wade wins his first major title by defeating Jenkins 18-7 in the final, the second biggest margin of victory in the event's history.

2005 - Colin Lloyd wins the World Matchplay, opening his final against John Part with the first of 15 180s before sealing victory with a 170 checkout.

2008 - Phil Taylor reclaims the title with arguably the greatest ever dart, completing an 18-9 defeat of James Wade with a magical bullseye to take out 132.

2013 - Adrian Lewis defeats Michael van Gerwen 17-15 in a classic semi-final, with Lewis hitting 16 maximums and coming from 15-14 down to win.

2013 - Phil Taylor wins a record sixth successive title, averaging 110 throughout his epic 18-13 win over Adrian Lewis.
