Sedlacek Seals World Championship Debut

Karel Sedlacek (PDC)

KAREL SEDLACEK will make his William Hill World Darts Championship debut after claiming victory at the East Europe Qualifier.

The Czech thrower defeated Hungary's Pal Szekely 6-4 in the final to book his place at Alexandra Palace in London this December.

Sedlacek, who became the first Czech player to compete on the European Tour earlier this month, will now be the second Czech player to star at the World Championship, following in the footsteps of Miroslav Navratil who played in the 2008 event.

The East Europe Qualifier was the first of six qualifiers for European players to seal their places at the 2018/2019 World Championship.

Last year's World Championship was a successful one for European qualifiers as Spain's Toni Alcinas reached the third round of the tournament, while German Kevin Munch defeated two-time World Champion Adrian Lewis in round one.

Following the tournament's recent expansion, female players from across Europe will also be able to compete in the Rest of the World Ladies Qualifier in Dusseldorf on November 17.
