Blue Square To Stream Welsh Regional Final

THE Blue Square UK Open Welsh Regional Final on Sunday 23 September will, for the first time, be streamed live through bluesquare.com for the final stages.

The Welsh Regional Final is the first of eight £25,000 events for PDPA members to win a place in the UK Open Televised Finals at Bolton next June.

In an exciting new development, registered users of www.bluesquare.com will be able to view the action from the Newport Centre live online from the quarter-finals through to the finish.

As well as an increased prize fund of £25,000 per Regional Final, with £6,000 to the winner, this year's event will also see a new format.

All games up to, and including, the last 16 will be the best of nine legs.

The quarter-finals will be the best of 11 legs, the semi-finals will be the best of 13 and the final the best of 15.

"Blue Square are valuable partners for this tournament and it will be fantastic to work with them to show this Regional Final online," said PDC Chairman Barry Hearn.

"Online streaming is an increasingly important aspect of any sport and being able to offer live coverage of this event continues our policy of pushing back the boundaries and taking the sport to new areas.

"It also great exposure for the best players in darts to be seen worldwide and will be a great incentive for them to succeed in this event."

This year's Regional Finals will only be open to PDPA members, with non-members able to qualify for Bolton through a series of amateur knockouts which will be announced in due course.

Entries for the Regional Final close at 4pm on Thursday 13 September. Entry costs £75 through the PDC office opn 08712 501 180 or £65 through the PDC Online Entry system.

As a result of the live streaming, the tournament will now begin at 2.30pm.
