ADMISSION for the opening session of the Cash Converters World Cup of Darts is to be free of charge for darts fans across the north-east!

With many darts fans seeing their working week disrupted by snow and ice, the Professional Darts Corporation have moved to offer them the ideal tonic - an afternoon watching live darts!

The inaugural World Cup of Darts, organised by the PDC, will be held at the Rainton Meadows Arena in Houghton-le-Spring from December 3-5, featuring 24 nations competing for £150,000 prize money.

While the top eight nations enter in the second round on Friday night, the opening session from 1pm-5pm on Friday will see eight matches take place.

"The recent weather has been a massive disruption to the UK but we're delighted to give sports fans something to warm up with at the Cash Converters World Cup of Darts," said PDC Chairman Barry Hearn.

"We look forward to throwing open our doors on Friday afternoon to give fans the chance to watch some top darting names for free, as well as players who represent the future of our sport."

Tickets can obtained at the Rainton Meadows Arena on Friday.

Doors will open at 12pm, with play beginning at 1pm, and the matches will be:

Any fans who had already purchased tickets for Friday's afternoon session will be offered a refund and are entitled to the same seat in the venue for the darts.
