Game On For PDC World Championship Darts 2008

THE PDC are delighted to announce that PDC World Championship Darts 2008 will be released in December, with the game this year available on Nintendo Wii as well as Playstation 2 and PC.

The second instalment of the hugely successful PDC World Championship Darts game features more PDC players, improved physics and animations, more game modes, full career mode based on the real PDC season, and for the first time, the game will be available on the WiiTM.

"PDC World Championship Darts was very well received by players and fans alike last December and has been a great success," said PDC Chief Executive Tim Darby.

"The game will be much greater this year with the inclusion of more top players as well as improved animation and features, and we look forward to seeing the finished version in December."

Jim Scott, Chief Executive of Oxygen Games, said: "We are delighted to be able to release the sequel this year, especially as it's now on the Wii.

"We have worked really closely with the PDC to make this the most complete darts game ever, and the amount of new features in this title delivers a true-to-the-sport experience."

Whilst the Playstation®2 and PC versions both feature improved control systems, the WiiTM version takes the game to another level: Players throw the dart by using the WiiTM remote to mimic a real darts throw, with the on-screen dart responding to the timing and smoothness of the release, as well as the accuracy of the throw.

The use of the WiiTM remote also enhances the darts party games which are included in all versions of the game.

Set for release alongside the staging of the 2008 Ladbrokes.com World Darts Championship, the sequel aims to bring something new to the countless loyal fans of the sport, as well as opening doors for the new gaming audience.

PDC World Championship Darts 2008 is scheduled for release on Playstation®2 computer entertainment system , PC and WiiTM in December 2007.

In addition, Oxygen Games, in association with Gamespot and The Sun Online, are offering two darts fans the chance of a lifetime - to appear as playable characters in the sequel.

The prize will see two lucky winners travel up to the development studio, have their virtual selves immortalised in the game alongside the stars of the PDC, and learn about how video games are made.
