OVER 150 players will compete on each day in the Players Championship tournaments to be held in Gibraltar this weekend.
The first PDC Pro Tour events of the weekend will be held at the Tercentenary Sports Hall in Gibraltar on Saturday and Sunday, each offering £31,600 prize money.
There will be a field of 163 players for Saturday's Stan James-sponsored Eddie Cox Memorial Players Championship, with 153 players competing in Sunday's second Players Championship.
That includes 111 PDPA members, as well as a mixture of entrants from Gibraltar, Spain and Europe who have entered direct into the main draw, plus 16 qualifiers from Gibraltar and Spain for each day.
The absence of Phil Taylor, who won both tournaments held in Gibraltar last year, means that there will be a new champion this weekend, while world number two Raymond van Barneveld is also not competing.
The two tournaments will begin at 12pm local time and be the best of 11 legs throughout.
The new prize fund for Players Championships in the UK and Europe in 2010 is:
Winner: £6,000
Runner-Up: £3,000
Semi-Finalists: £1,500
Quarter-Finalists: £1,000
Last 16: £500
Last 32: £300
Last 64: £200
Total: £31,600
