Grand Slam Qualification News

UPDATED qualification information for the 2009 PartyPoker.com Grand Slam of Darts.

Colin Osborne's run to the final of the Blue Square UK Open means he will make his Grand Slam debut in November.

The 33-year-old from Derby lost in the last 16 of the ITV Wildcard Qualifier last November and the semi-finals in 2007, but earns a place by right this time around.

Following the confirmation that the World Masters will be played in September 2009, the winner from this event will be invited to compete in the Grand Slam of Darts.

In addition, the 2009 Women's World Champion, Holland's Francis Hoenselaar, will be invited to compete and the application of invitations to reflect the previous two years of a major tournament will also be extended to this tournament.

As such, Russia's Anastasia Dobromyslova will also be invited to compete in the 2009 Grand Slam of Darts, having previously played in last year's event.

"We congratulate Colin on his qualification for the PartyPoker.com Grand Slam of Darts, and from his displays in Bolton we know he will be a force to be reckoned with in November," said PDC Chairman Barry Hearn.

"We also look forward to seeing Francis taking part in this event, meaning that alongside Anastasia the two best women in darts will come up against their male counterparts. They thoroughly deserve their chance."
