Next Up: Open Holland Masters

THE Open Holland Masters on Sunday sees the fifth Players Championship tournament staged in 2007 take place at Schiedam.

The £20,000 event is the latest of the eight which will count towards qualification for PDPA members towards the Stan James World Matchplay in July.

The four players highest in the Players Championship Order of Merit following eight Players Championship events who have not qualified by right (top 28 in PDC Order of Merit) will win places at Blackpool.

The Antwerp Darts Trophy a fortnight ago saw two players jump up the Players Championship Order of Merit into the current four qualification spots.

Adrian Gray won £1,250 by reaching the semi-finals, while Bristol's Steve Brown had his best run since joining the professional circuit by reaching the last eight.

They would currently join Michael van Gerwen - last year's Open Holland champion - and Sean Palfrey in the four qualification spots - although with the Thialf Darts Trophy and two Players Championship events at Hayling Island still to follow, there is room for players to rise up the list.

The top eight players in the Players Championship Order of Merit outside of the world's top 32 following the two events in Lisse in November will qualify by right for the Ladbrokes.com World Darts Championship, giving added incentive for players to perform in the forthcoming tournaments.
