GERMAN debutant Tomas Seyler defeated Jamie Harvey 3-0 to win his first round clash at the Ladbrokes.com World Darts Championship.

The shipbuilder from Bremerhaven produced an impressive display to see off his veteran opponent.

He took the first set 3-1 after missing the chance to win it without reply when he was just outside the bull for a 170 finish, which allowed Harvey to step in with double ten.

Harvey also led 2-1 in the second set, but Seyler's accuracy around the treble 20 bed saw him claw his way back and land double 16 to take the set.

He kept ahead of the Scotsman throughout the next set and, despite a 120 finish from Harvey, Seyler won the deciding leg with a 112 checkout to complete victory.

"It was a good win," said Seyler. "I'm pretty proud of it.

"I was a bit nervous but I thought Jamie wasn't on top of his game so I knew I had a chance.

"I'm very pleased with it, I was consistent but it wasn't my best game.

"Darts is different from game to game, but hopefully I will be even better in the next round against Roland Scholten."
