THE totesport.com Players Championship starts on Thursday evening and the sponsors have released prices on all 16 first round matches that take place over the first two days.
Reigning champion Phil Taylor is 1/33 to win his first round tie against Peter Manley, who is a 10/1 shot to produce a shock result, whilst last year's beaten finalist Robert Thornton is even money to beat Kevin Painter, who is 8/11 to reach the second round.
The tie of the round sees a repeat of last year's Whyte & Mackay Premier League Darts final as James Wade takes on Mervyn King. Wade is the 4/7 favourite to progress but King will surely have his followers at a tempting 5/4.
"The totesport.com Players Championship begins in earnest on Thursday and the nature of this competition means that every single player needs to hit the ground running or face an early exit," said totesport spokesman George Primarolo.
"There are no easy games and the betting suggests that several of the first round clashes could go the distance."

Current World Champion Phil Taylor is the 4/11 favourite to win his second successive Players Championship, with Gary Anderson and James Wade both next in the market at 12/1.
