PHIL TAYLOR picked up back-to-back PDPA Players Championship titles with a 3-1 win over James Wade at the Newport Centre.
Taylor was a victor in Wales 12 months ago, and followed up his win in the last Players Championship - at Blackpool in July - with the win over Wade.
Taylor was in imperious form in powering to the final, and repeated his win over Wade in the Stan James World Matchplay almost two months ago in style.
He took the first set 2-1 before Wade took the second without reply to level matters.
Wade also led in the third set, but paid for missing four darts to take the set 2-0 as Taylor stepped in with double 16 before a 78 finish saw him move 2-1 up in the game.
Wade held his throw to go up in the fourth set, but a 13-darter from Taylor put him within touching distance of the win before he took out a 120 Shanghai finish to victory.
Taylor had romped into the last four without losing a single set in his first four games, and came from a set down to win 3-1 against Dennis Priestley.
Priestley included former World Champions Keith Deller and Steve Beaton among his scalps in another impressive run of form.
Wade failed to drop a single leg in his semi-final win over Hamilton, and won his four matches leading up to the final 3-0.
Wayne Mardle edged out Dutch star Raymond van Barneveld 3-2, while World Championship semi-finalist Wayne Jones ended Colin Lloyd's hopes by the same scoreline - after the world number one missed four darts for the match.
