RAYMOND VAN BARNEVELD, James Wade and Adrian Lewis continued their impressive starts to the Topic International Darts League on Sunday afternoon.
Defending champion Van Barneveld picked up his second win of the event with a 6-1 defeat of Martin Atkins, averaging 104 and hitting finishes of 161 and 156 to leave himself at the top if Group D.
Wade recorded a 98 average in his 6-3 win over Jelle Klaasen to become the only unbeaten player in Group G, with Darryl Fitton getting off the mark with a heavy 6-1 defeat of Dennis Priestley in the afternoon's final game.
Lewis, meanwhile, heads Group E following a 6-2 defeat of Lakeside Champion Martin Adams, with Mario Robbe winning the pool's other game 6-4 against Barrie Bates.
Bates and Adams will meet on Monday, with the winner joining Lewis in Round Two.
Michael van Gerwen and Tony Eccles ensured they will qualify from Group C with wins in the second phase of games.
Dutch youngster van Gerwen whitewashed a disappointing Andy Hamilton 6-0, with "The Hammer" failing to reach a double and exiting the tournament, while Eccles defeated Terry Jenkins 6-4 in the opening contest.
In Group F, Colin Lloyd edged out Co Stompe 6-5 to gain his second win, but a loss for Mark Dudbridge against Tony O'Shea leaves that pair on one win going into the final games.
The evening session includes Phil Taylor v Holland's Niels de Ruiter, Roland Scholten v Wayne Mardle, Mervyn King taking on Gary Anderson and van Barneveld meeting Ross Montgomery in his final group game.
