BOB ANDERSON, Denis Ovens, Andy Smith and Mark Walsh warmed up for the Stan James World Matchplay by coming through the PDPA Qualifiers for the World Darts Trophy on Friday night.
The quartet will all be competing on the Winter Gardens stage this week in the £200,000 World Matchplay, and have also booked a place in the Preliminary Round of the World Darts Trophy on 31 August.
They will be joined in Utrecht by Peter Allen, Alan Caves, Wayne Atwood and Garry Spedding.
Ovens' run was an ideal warm-up for his clash with World Champion Raymond van Barneveld on Tuesday, while Anderson has been playing with renewed confidence after settling down with a new set of darts recently.
Smith stared defeat in the face when Kevin McDine - who qualified for the International Darts League in May - missed darts for the match in their decider, seeing his 4-2 lead overturned.
Mark Dudbridge, the top seeded player, lost in the third round to Wales' Wayne Atwood, while Chris Mason and Wes Newton were seeds to lose in their first game.
Atwood went on to win a place in the WDT with his defeat of Lionel Sams, and Cumbrian Garry Spedding overcame Matt Clark 5-3.
Caves defeated Wayne Jones in his final match, and Coventry's Allen was a 5-3 winner against young gun Kirk Shepherd.
Hertfordshire-based Gary Barnett, making his first appearance since joining the PDPA recently, hit a nine-darter in his first game of the event, against Kevin Hill, but lost to Mark Lawrence in round two.
