Wessel Nijman will return to the Jack’s Casino World Series of Darts Finals next month, after the young Dutchman was one of six players to win through Wednesday’s Tour Card Holder Qualifier in Milton Keynes.
Nijman demolished Owen Bates 6-1 in their winner-takes-all showdown to book his place in this year’s showpiece, which will take place at AFAS Live in Amsterdam from September 12-14.
The 25-year-old also overcame his fellow countrymen Jitse van der Wan and Dirk van Duijvenbode en route to qualification, averaging over a ton to edge out Van der Wal before accounting for 2022 runner-up Van Duijvenbode.
Wednesday’s qualifier saw 82 players in action at Arena MK, with Gabriel Clemens closing out a 6-4 victory over World Youth Champion Gian van Veen to deny the Dutchman a return to home soil.
2024 runner-up Michael Smith was also beaten in the final round of qualification by Cameron Menzies, who makes his return to the Dutch capital following his debut appearance 12 months ago.
Joe Cullen whitewashed William O’Connor to confirm his place in the 32-player event, while Luke Woodhouse and Cor Dekker defeated Lukas Wenig and Kim Huybrechts respectively to earn World Series Finals debuts.
Italian number one Michele Turetta landed a nine-darter in the opening stages of Wednesday's event, although his perfect leg came in a losing cause against Andy Boulton.
