THE most successful player in Australian darting history, Simon ended his search for a televised title at the 2012 European Championship and has been a force in the sport for the past decade.
Originally a qualifier for the 2002 PDC World Championship as the Oceanic Masters winner, Whitlock spent the next six years competing on the WDF circuit in his homeland, reaching the Lakeside Championship final in 2008.
After moving onto the PDC circuit during 2009, Whitlock made an immediate impression with a run to the World Championship final on his Alexandra Palace debut, losing out to Phil Taylor in the decider.
After winning the European Championship title, Whitlock reached the final in 2013 in his defence of the title before losing out to Adrian Lewis, and has also reached the finals of both the Premier League and World Cup of Darts in 2012.
Whitlock also achieved a nine-dart finish on TV in the 2012 Premier League semi-finals, and landed two perfect legs in the latter half of 2016 as he also won two ranking titles.
The Australian ace hit top form again in 2017 and almost crowned his resurgence with the World Grand Prix, only to lose narrowly to Daryl Gurney.
Whitlock's impressive displays were rewarded with an invitation into the Premier League after a three-year absence.
