Final Speedy Qualifiers Found

THE final eight Speedy Qualifiers for the Speedy Services UK Open have been found following Speedy's employee-only event in Haydock.

The eight join 24 previous qualifiers in winning places in the UK Open's televised finals in Bolton in June, with three of the players - Stuart Daniels, Kirk Gordon and Darrin Pugh - having competed in the event last year.

They were joined by Ben Johnson, Paul Critchley, Andy Melling, Mark Kelly and Mark Spencer in winning through to compete in Bolton.

The event, as with Speedy's free-to-enter qualfiers held in Brighton, Dartford, Inverness, Leeds, Stoke and Cardiff, saw players initially throw 15 darts in a bid to score one of the highest 16 scores, with those players then playing off for places in the UK Open.

Speedy employees travelled from across the country to compete in the country, with world number nine Mark Webster - a semi-finalist in last year's UK Open - on hands to offer tips as a Speedy Ambassador.

"Despite the final eight places only being available for Speedy employees, the quality of darts on show was exceptionally high," he said.

"My advice to them for UK Open finals would be to savour the atmosphere and make the most of the occasion. With a positive mindset, anything is possible."

Steve McIntyre, group marketing director for Speedy Services, said: "These qualifiers have been absolutely fantastic for amateur darts players and our employees.

"The standards of darts on show has been consistently high at all of our qualifying events, including the employee event. We wish all qualifiers the best of luck in Bolton."
