Phillips scored heavily in the opening three legs to romp into a healthy advantage, before Turner cut the deficit to one with a 114 finish.

Phillips then regained his cushion by taking out 41, going one away from victory.

In the final leg, with Turner waiting to pounce on double two, Phillips nailed double ten to extend his lead at the top of the order of merit.

Phillips' path to the final was made simpler as experienced duo Keelan Kay and Tavis Dudeney exited the competition early on.

The 15-year-old was pushed all the way in the last 16 as he survived match darts against JDC newcomer Freddie Box.

A sensational performance from Chester’s James Beeton also nearly put an end to Phillips’ day at the quarter-final stage, but the youngster edged through in dramatic encounter. He then made light work of Charlie Large in the semi-final before defeating Turner in the final.

Despite the defeat to Phillips in the final, the day provided vital experience for promising young star Turner.

His sensational 144 finish to beat Lennon Craddock in the last 16 caught the eye of many on-lookers, and he is sure to be a major threat as the season continues.

The JDC Modus UK Junior Tour will return as the players of the future travel to Rileys Chorlton on July 14 to compete in Event Five.
