BetVictor World Matchplay Qualification Latest

Winter Gardens (PDC)

THE RACE to qualify for the BetVictor World Matchplay is hotting up after last weekend's Gibraltar Darts Trophy.

The summer’s biggest tournament will see a 32-player field competing from July 21-29 at the Winter Gardens in Blackpool, with a £500,000 prize fund on offer in the prestigious event.

The top 16 players from the PDC Order of Merit will qualify by right for the World Matchplay, and will be joined by 16 qualifiers from the one-year ProTour Order of Merit.

With just six ranking events to go before the qualification cut off, players are jostling for position to grace the famous Winter Gardens stage.

Last weekend saw the Gibraltar Darts Trophy take place, with a number of players performing well and pushing their way up the ProTour Order of Merit.

Adrian Lewis enjoyed a run to his first European Tour final in almost six years to cement his qualification place, while Steve West made the semi-finals of the event to propel himself to 23rd on the ProTour Order of Merit.

The 16 ProTour Qualifiers will be joined by the top 16 players on the PDC Order of Merit, both as of July 2, 2018.

Players will compete in two European Tour events and four Players Championship events before that date, starting with Players Championships 13&14 this weekend at the Robin Park Tennis Centre in Wigan.
