BetVictor Make Pair New Joint Favourites

BetVictor World Matchplay (Lawrence Lustig, PDC)

GARY ANDERSON and Rob Cross are the new 4/1 joint favourites to win the BetVictor World Matchplay following Saturday's exit of Michael van Gerwen.

Pre-tournament odds-on favourite Van Gerwen was defeated 10-6 by 500/1 outsider Jeffrey de Zwaan as the tournament began at Blackpool's Winter Gardens.

Van Gerwen's exit has opened up the betting markets for the event, with 2018 UK Open champion Anderson and World Champion Cross seeing their odds slashed to 4/1.

2017 World Matchplay finalist Peter Wright is now 6/1, while recent Shanghai Darts Masters winner Michael Smith saw his odds cut to 8/1 following his first round win.

Adrian Lewis, the 2013 finalist who battled back to defeat James Wilson on Saturday, is 10/1, with 2007 champion James Wade - the only former champion remaining in the field - 12/1.

De Zwaan has seen his odds come from a pre-tournament 500/1 down to 66/1, while Dave Chisnall - Saturday's other winning player - is a 40/1 chance to win his first televised title.
