Down Under: Top Five Moments

Kyle Anderson, Corey Cadby (PDC)

THE 2018 Auckland Darts Masters, presented by TAB & Burger King, kicks off August's World Series of Darts treble-header Down Under, and to mark the occasion  we take a look back at the top five darting moments from the Oceanic events.

Reigning Auckland champion Kyle Anderson will start the defence of his title with a clash against Haupai Puha at the Trusts Arena, having defeated Corey Cadby to lift his first TV title back in 2017.

The past five years' events have played host to a number of shocks, surprises and stunning darts, but which is your favourite Oceanic World Series moment of all-time?

Here we take a look back at our top five greatest moments from Australia and New Zealand ahead of Friday's curtain-raiser.

Warren Parry (Lawrence Lustig, PDC)

5. Parry Back From The Brink

Trailing 5-1 to then-World Champion Michael van Gerwen, few would've given Warren Parry hope of a comeback in their first round clash at the 2014 Sydney Darts Masters.

But the experienced Kiwi defied the odds to reel off five successive legs to claim what he described as 'the biggest win of his career.'

"To beat Michael is jut unreal, awesome, and I'm over the moon," said Parry, who went down to Peter Wright in the quarter-finals, but has since gone on to represent his country in three World Cups.

Corey Cadby, Phil Taylor (PDC)

4. King Cadby Comes Of Age

Corey Cadby announced himself to the world at the 2016 Perth Darts Masters as he stunned Phil Taylor with a 6-2 victory.

The young Aussie threw a magnificent 103.58 average to claim a career-defining win over the 16-time World Champion, who had beaten him in Sydney just a week earlier, in front of an adoring Perth crowd.

The win was a catalyst for future success for Cadby, who has since gone on to reach the final of last year's Auckland event and was also runner-up at this year's UK Open.

Adrian Lewis (PDC)

3. Lewis Beats Barney In Auckland Classic

Adrian Lewis defeated Raymond van Barneveld 11-10 in one of the greatest World Series finals ever seen at the 2015 Auckland event.

A captivating final leg saw both players miss match darts before Lewis claimed glory in front of a magnificent New Zealand crowd.

The Auckland win is Lewis' most recent individual televised title.

Kyle Anderson, Corey Cadby (PDC)

2. Anderson Lands First TV Title

Kyle Anderson claimed his first televised PDC title as he secured a deciding leg win in the final of the 2017 Auckland event over fellow Australian Corey Cadby in the final.

A gripping climax to the tournament, encapsulating everything the World Series is about, saw Anderson edge past Cadby 11-10 to back up his Players Championship win a week previously.

Anderson continues to be a regular fixture on the World Series and will be hoping for success on home turf this year.

Phil Taylor (PDC)

1. Nine-Dart Magic From The Power

Phil Taylor struck the first, and so far only, nine-dart finish on the World Series against Peter Wright at the 2015 Sydney Masters.

An unprecedented moment for world darts saw Taylor strike perfection on the way to a 10-7 win over Wright before going on to claim the title.

This also turned out to be Taylor's last ever televised nine-darter, making it an even more historic darting moment.
