Brown To Compete In William Cross Pro-Am

IAN BROWN has been accepted one of the four Invitational Entries for the William Cross Pro-Am in Shoalhaven in August.

Queenslander Brown has won the last two DFA Singles titles in Australia, one of only five players in the past 40 years to achieve the feat.

He will join stars from the DPA circuit and travelling PDC players in the William Cross Pro-Am in Shoalhaven this August, competing for $AU110,000 in prize money as well as a place in the PartyPoker.com Grand Slam of Darts.

Brown has accepted one of the four Invitational Entries to the William Cross Pro-Am Singles event, which will be a 64-player knockout.

"I am very excited and honoured to receive this invite and the chance to compete against some of the best players in Australia," said Brown.

DartPlayers Australia Chief Executive Rob Denny said: "It great to have Ian participate in this year's William Cross Pro-Am.

"He is a remarkable player who has proved himself time and time again in the DFA. We welcome Ian to the Premier League of Australian darts and wish him well."

He will join the leading 12 PDC ranked players who travel to Australia, top eight DPA players, four New Zealanders and four South Africans and the remaining three Invited players as the 32 pre-qualified players.

They will be joined by 32 players from qualifying rounds in the final event.

The William Cross Pro-Am will be preceded by the Shoalhaven Classic event and the week of events culminates in the PDC-ranked Australian Open Players Championship on Sunday 10 August.

World number three James Wade, the recent Blue Square UK Open champion, and PDC newcomer Robert Thornton will be among the players travelling from the northern hemisphere to compete in the week of tournaments.
