So Far...
We're halfway through the Whyte & Mackay Premier League after Brighton last week and the table is really shaping up.

James Wade is at the top, Phil Taylor is in second place and Mervyn King, who was top for so long, is now in third - he's really got to start getting points on the board again after picking up just one in his last three games.

Terry Jenkins had a good win against King last week - he's been struggling with his doubles but hit a 100 checkout when he was 4-1 down and that turned the game on its head.

Terry ended up beating Mervyn convincingly and at the weekend he lost to Taylor in a tour event in Essex so I think there are big things ahead for Terry Jenkins for the rest of the league.

Wayne Mardle faced James Wade last week and we expected big things of The Machine and he certainly delivered - he is firing on all cylinders now and

I'm expecting big things from him for the rest of the year, he really took control against Mardle and finished him off.

Wayne again gave himself chances in some legs but he just didn't take them and I keep saying it - if you don't take your chances against this class field the will bury you.

We expected Raymond van Barneveld to get the better of Jelle Klaasen, with the young Dutchman in a similar boat to Mardle - he's really giving himself chances but not taking them and he's given away so many points from not hitting his doubles.

He's scoring well but that's not enough in the Premier League.

John Part versus Phil Taylor finished the night last week and I thought Part might have got a draw if he had taken his chances - Taylor gave him two darts at a double in the first leg but he didn't take it and just before the break John again had two darts at a double for three-all and didn't take it - Taylor came back from the break and finished Part off.

The Games...
Wayne Mardle v Mervyn King

A good bet here is for King to win the first leg against Mardle at 6/5.

The stats show that Wayne normally loses his first leg and Mervyn really needs to get on the board here - he is just starting to slip as people are now taking shots out against him.

He has been doing so well in taking advantage of his opponent's mistakes and taking out the 86s and the 96s.

But Terry Jenkins turned it around against him in Brighton and now King has to do well against Mardle to hold his position in the league.

Wayne hasn't been taking his chances so far and he's going to have to change that against Mervyn or he could find himself bottom of the league at the end of the night.

Boylesports.com Match Odds
Wayne Mardle 5/2, Mervyn King 8/13, Draw 9/2

Terry Jenkins v Jelle Klaasen
Like Mardle, Klaasen is not taking his chances whereas Jenkins has turned his game around after hitting the 100 shot out against King.

Before that he had in his head for weeks and weeks that he couldn't hit a double but that's gone now and at 3/4 to beat Jelle, that's a great bet on current form.

Boylesports.com Match Odds
Terry Jenkins 3/4, Jelle Klaasen 2/1, Draw 9/2

John Part v James Wade
This could be a cracker with the in-form James Wade really firing - he's hitting that treble 20 brilliantly with the first dart sitting right up in the bed and he's hitting lots of 180s.

John Part may get chances and he has to get into Wade in the early legs or James will end up winning this one.

Boylesports.com Match Odds
Part 21/5 Wade 2/5 Draw 9/2

Phil Taylor v Raymond van Barneveld
The last game on is the one we all want to see, Barney is coming back into a bit of form and the week before last in Manchester he had a 108 average.

Last week though he just came off the top a little bit and he'll have to bring his A-game in this one.

Taylor is winning everything off the TV with two tour events again at the weekend.

That's the third time in the last six weeks that he's done a double header which is incredible darts, he really is playing well and he's going to be up for it as when these two play each other you know there is going to be fireworks.

I think Taylor will win this but it wouldn't surprise me if Barney got a draw but he has to get out of the gate and get into Phil before the break.

Boylesports.com Match Odds
Phil Taylor 4/9, Raymond van Barneveld 7/2, Draw 5/1
