Nico Kurz wins Super League Germany to book Ally Pally return

Nico Kurz

Nico Kurz secured his return to Alexandra Palace by winning the 2020 Hylo Care Super League Germany on Sunday, defeating Dragutin Horvat 10-9 in the final.

Kurz claimed the Super League title for the second successive year, as the exciting young talent survived a match dart in a thrilling decider to book his place in the 2020/21 World Championship.

The last four weekends have seen some of Germany's top talents competing in the group stage of the PDC Europe event, with the top four players in each group progressing to Sunday's Finals Day.

The day began with the quarter-finals in the afternoon, as world number 38 Gabriel Clemens and 2018 Grand Slam of Darts quarter-finalist Michael Unterbuchner joined Kurz and Horvat in reaching the final four.

Kurz overcame Clemens 9-7, while Horvat ran out a 9-3 victor over Unterbuchner to book their places in the final.

From 8-4 down, Kurz staged a dramatic comeback to force a last-leg decider, which saw Horvat narrowly miss double 12 for a 141 checkout, before Kurz held his nerve on double two to get over the line.
